Monthly Reflections 2023
February is the month of love, heart love. The dilemma for those mourning their love is where to put all that love they still carry. Here we are, in the midst of celebrating Valentine’s Day, but we cannot participate. Not in the usual way.
Before he died, my husband would celebrate Valentine’s Day as soon as the candy hearts were available. His delight was to leave a candy heart wherever: in the car, on the counter, stove, end table, and/or my pillow for me to find the message inscribed. To honor his gesture and his love this year, I’m buying candy hearts. Lots of them. I will be passing them out to my family and friends. I will share that love that has no place to go.
Another way to dispense love for our missing loved ones is to write a love note. You may keep it or burn it, allowing the smoke rising heavenward to carry your message. Go to their favorite place to eat, watch their favorite movies, visit places they enjoyed and relish the memories that emerge. Even though they are now in a different spiritual dimension, we still can keep an ongoing relationship with them.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Blessings, Connie
